Nicholas Sparks might not spring to mind immediately as a person we would quote about the work of United Way and its supported agencies.

Sparks, the author of numerous tear inducing novels, wrote in The Notebook:

“It’s the possibility that keeps me going, not the guarantee”

At United Way, we say “We are possibility”

There are no guarantees in this life, but there is always a possibility. Because of donors like you, United Way, through its supported agencies is able to deliver real progress in an increasingly complicated society.

Lyndsey Butcher, of Planned Parenthood Waterloo Region (and our featured do gooder) is involved in a ground breaking initiative, reaching out to newcomer women from war torn countries , settling in our region.

She says “The United Way of Kitchener Waterloo and Area fosters possibility through its investment in this program. Run by Planned Parenthood Waterloo Region in partnership with community centers, we have had participants from Somalia, Afghanistan, Liberia and Iraq and in the very near future, will reach out to newcomers from Syria.

The program is delivered in the women’s own language and provides a safe space to talk about their health and relationships while building friendships and connections in the community. Ultimately the program provides a base from which participants can move on to a productive and satisfying life.

It’s just one of many programs and services supported by United Way in Kitchener Waterloo & Area.

Every act of good, whether it’s a financial investment, or the commitment of time, is a statement of belief. << TWEET THIS

A belief in working together to create a strong, inclusive, and diversified community where every person has the possibility to reach their greatest potential.

We are possibility.
